FAQ

Answers to common questions about LexHub, including the Assistant, documents, plans, security, and how the AI works.

Getting started

What is LexHub? LexHub is a European, AI-powered legal workspace that helps legal professionals ask legal questions, analyse documents, and run structured reviews — all with grounded, source-backed answers. It is designed for individual lawyers as well as legal teams.

Do I need to be a lawyer to use LexHub? LexHub is built for legal professionals and those who work with legal documents regularly. While no technical skills are required, the product is designed with legal work in mind.

How do I sign up? You can create an account at lexhub.app using your email address, Google account, or Microsoft account. No payment details are required to start — you get a 7-day free trial automatically.

Is there a free trial? Yes. All new users get a 7-day free trial with access to the full platform. No credit card is required upfront. After the trial, you can choose a plan that fits your needs.

What happens after my free trial ends? You will be prompted to select a paid plan to continue using LexHub. Your work, documents, and chat history are preserved when you upgrade.

The Assistant

What can I use the Assistant for? The Assistant lets you ask legal questions, analyse and summarise documents, extract timelines, compare document versions, and more. It works conversationally, and every answer includes citations that link back to the source material.

Can the Assistant make legal errors? Like all AI tools, the Assistant can make mistakes. This is why every response includes citations — so you can verify the answer against the original source before relying on it professionally. LexHub is designed to support legal professionals, not replace professional judgement.

What legal sources does the Assistant draw from? In the current version, the Assistant can draw from EUR-Lex and Rechtspraak, as well as documents you upload or store in a Dossier. You can select which sources to use per query.

Can I use the Assistant without uploading a document? Yes. You can ask legal questions without uploading a document, using legal sources such as EUR-Lex or Rechtspraak as the basis for the answer. For document-specific questions, you will need to upload the relevant file or select a Dossier.

How do I get better answers from the Assistant? Be specific about what you need, which jurisdiction applies, and which clause or section you are asking about. For detailed guidance, see our [Prompting and best practices] article.

Documents and Dossiers

What file types can I upload? LexHub supports common document formats including PDF and Word (.docx).

How many documents can I upload at once? You can upload one or more documents per conversation. For ongoing matters, we recommend setting up a Dossier to keep your documents organised and ready to use.

What is a Dossier? A Dossier is a curated collection of documents that you can use to scope the Assistant's context to a specific matter. Instead of uploading files each time, you set up a Dossier once and select it when starting a conversation.

Can I connect LexHub to my existing document storage? Yes. LexHub integrates with Google Drive, SharePoint, and OneDrive. You can also sync documents manually or via email.

Are my uploaded documents stored securely? Yes. LexHub is built with data security as a core principle. See the [Policies and security] section below for more details.

Reviews

What is a Review? A Review is a structured table that lets you analyse multiple documents side-by-side. Each row is a document, each column is a legal question or criterion, and each cell contains an AI-generated, source-backed assessment.

When should I use a Review instead of the Assistant? Use the Assistant for conversational questions and single-document analysis. Use Reviews when you need to compare multiple documents against the same set of criteria — for example, reviewing a batch of contracts for specific clauses or risk factors.

Can I export a Review? Yes. Reviews can be exported to Excel. You can also save a Review as a template for reuse.

Can I share a Review with a colleague? Yes. Reviews can be shared with other users in your workspace.

Plans and credits

How does pricing work? LexHub runs on a subscription model. Your plan determines how many credits you receive each month. Credits are used each time you interact with the Assistant, run a Workflow, or generate a Review cell.

What happens if I run out of credits? You can purchase a one-time credit top-up from Settings → Plans & Credits without changing your subscription. If you consistently need more credits, upgrading your plan is usually better value.

Do unused credits roll over? Yes. Unused credits roll over at the end of each billing period as long as your subscription is active. Credits expire upon cancellation.

How do I upgrade or cancel my plan? Go to Settings → Plans & Credits to manage your subscription, upgrade, downgrade, or cancel.

Where can I find my invoices? Go to Settings → Plans & Credits → Manage → Invoices & Payments.

How LexHub works

What AI model does LexHub use? LexHub uses a large language model combined with retrieval from the sources and documents you select. The AI does not generate answers from general knowledge alone — responses are grounded in the specific sources you choose.

Why does every answer include citations? Citations allow you to verify every AI-generated answer against its original source. This is a core trust feature in LexHub and is designed to support professional accountability in legal work.

Does LexHub remember previous conversations? Your chat history is saved and accessible from the History panel. However, each new conversation starts fresh unless you are working within a Project, where related context is grouped together.

What languages does LexHub support? LexHub can work with documents and questions in multiple languages. Reviews can also be translated. LexHub's interface is available in Dutch and English. More languages will follow.
